Using an alcohol-based remover properly is key to safely taking off your hair system without damaging it or irritating your skin. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
How to Use an Alcohol Remover for Hair Systems
- Prepare Your Work Area
- Have a mirror, paper towels, a fine-tooth comb, and your alcohol-based remover ready.
- Work in a well-ventilated space since alcohol removers can have a strong smell.
- Apply the Alcohol Remover
- Spray or dab the alcohol remover directly along the edges of the hair system where the adhesive or tape is applied.
- Let it sit for about 30–60 seconds to break down the bond.
- Gently Lift the Hair System
- Start at one corner and gently lift the system while continuing to apply the remover.
- Avoid pulling hard—if there’s resistance, apply more remover and wait a few seconds.
- Remove Residue from Scalp & Lace/Base
- Use a cotton pad or cloth soaked in the remover to wipe off excess adhesive from your scalp.
- For the hair system, spray a little remover on the lace or polyurethane base and gently wipe away residue.
- Clean & Wash
- After all adhesive is removed, wash your scalp and the hair system with a mild shampoo to remove any alcohol traces.
- Let the system dry completely before reapplying adhesive or tape.
